Frequently asked questions

Why does tapping a node sometimes push others into the red zone?
⌄
Why does tapping a node sometimes push others into the red zone?
When you tap a node, its full charge is dumped to zero —
but a portion spreads to both neighbours in the ring.
In Core Four mode, 50% of the dumped charge is distributed.
If a neighbour is already close to full, that added charge can push it
past 75% (critical) or even 100% (overload). Timing your vents when
neighbours are low is the core skill of GridPulse.

Why does the grid speed up the longer I survive?

Why does the grid speed up the longer I survive?
GridPulse uses a ramp system: fill rate rises linearly
from the start of each session, reaching 2.6× the base speed by the
72-second mark and staying there. This means the first 45 seconds
are relatively forgiving, and anything past 90 seconds demands near-perfect
timing. The ramp applies equally across all three modes.

How is my score calculated?
⌄
How is my score calculated?
Score is: elapsed seconds × 10, plus
5 points per vent (each tap counts).
A 60-second run with 40 vents yields 600 + 200 = 800 points.
Precision — venting only when necessary — rewards higher survival
time, which multiplies the base score far more than rapid tapping.
Records are stored locally per mode (Core Four, Relay Five, Array Six),
top 10 per mode.

What is the Chain Vent milestone and how do I unlock it?
⌄
What is the Chain Vent milestone and how do I unlock it?
Chain Vent requires you to tap 5 different nodes within
any 3-second window during a single session. It is designed for players
who have mastered the ring layout and can react quickly across multiple
critical nodes simultaneously. The milestone tracks your fastest
5-vent burst automatically — no special setup required. It works across
all three grid modes.

My high scores are gone after reinstalling. Can I recover them?
⌄
My high scores are gone after reinstalling. Can I recover them?
GridPulse is fully offline and stores all data locally on your device
using iOS UserDefaults. Because nothing is synced to any external server
or cloud service, deleting the app also deletes all saved records
and milestones. There is no recovery path — this is by design
to protect your privacy. Future updates may offer iCloud Backup support.

How do I reset all progress without deleting the app?
⌄
How do I reset all progress without deleting the app?
Open the Settings sheet (tap the sliders icon in the top-right
corner of the main menu). At the bottom of the settings, you will find
a reset control. Press and hold it for 1.5 seconds — a progress indicator
fills as you hold. Release at any point before it completes to cancel.
On full completion, all records, milestones, and session stats are wiped.
The action is intentionally slow to prevent accidental resets.
